I always love reading others’ empties posts, so in February I decided to start saving up all the things I got through to do my own post. I find empties posts are so much more useful than reviews based on initial impressions because you know the person used every last bit of it and can really speak to just how well it worked for them!
February ended up being really hectic with school though, so I decided to combine my February and March empties into one big post. I’m going to try to post once a month from now on with all my empties. This post is probably a lot bigger than it normally would be just because I made a point of using up things I was almost done to begin with. Ok, here goes!
Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie: I really liked this! It was pretty moisturizing, and the pigmentation was really great. I liked the scent too – it had a really faint vanilla scent to it. Yum! I would definitely repurchase, although probably in a different colour.
B. Kamins Bio-Maple Lip Balm SPF 20: This was an ok product. I got it in my Winter Luxe Box. It had a kind of funky scent, but it kept my lips moisturized, and I’m happy it had SPF. I used it every time I went snowboarding and it kept my lips super moisturized and in great shape – they usually get really windchapped and gross from the cold, but with this my lips felt great all day. I’d recommend it for that purpose, but I’m sure there are equally good lipbalms out there that are cheaper.
Lady Gaga Fame: I loooove this scent! It smells really unique, and the black liquid is kind of gimmicky but also really cool. I definitely will be buying this eventually. It’s a really fruity scent that smells like blackberry, apricot, and maybe honey? I’m not sure, but I absolutely love it.
Theirry Mugler Alien: I really liked this scent too, it was a really feminine vanilla sort of scent. More of a night time scent I’d say. I wouldn’t buy it though, I’ve got so many vanilla based scents already.
Perfumies Flirtationship: I got this in my Beauty Box 5 box a few months ago. I wasn’t a huge fan of the scent, which was a sort of standard floral sweet scent, but I love how it was a solid oil. It was always so convenient to apply wherever I was. I’ll definitely be picking up another one of these solid perfume sticks, although definitely in a different scent.
Clinique Even Better Serum: I got this as a 100 point sample from Sephora. I used this for a month I think almost every night and saw no difference. I wouldn’t purchase this.
Eminence Organics Aloe Mint Hydrating Cream Gel: This was an ok product. I wasn’t a big fan of the scent, but it had a nice cooling feel to it. I mostly used this during the summer. I wouldn’t repurchase.
Clinique Acne Solutions Toner: I got this as part of a different 100 point perk from Sephora. It was ok, nothing exciting. I don’t really have any acne, just the stray pimple here and there when I get really stressed so I didn’t notice it making much of a difference. I wouldn’t purchase this.
Clinique Clarifying Lotion (Combination/Oily): I got this in my Clinique Prive Topbox a few months ago. Although I finished the bottle, I really had to force myself to use it because I absolutely hated the scent of this – it smells like straight rum. Yick. I did like it though, it made my skin feel really refreshed and clean afterwards. I would consider buying this, but I’m really not a fan of the smell.
My Scheming Camellia Night Jelly: I got this from a friend who gave me a bunch of facial sheet masks from Taiwan. I actually really really liked this! It was a gel and felt so nice and moisturizing and refreshing when I put it on before bed. I’m going to have to figure out how to get my hands on some of this.
Lancome Visionnaire: I only got a few uses out of this, and can’t say I saw any difference. I wasn’t a fan of the scent at all though, it smelled way too old lady perfume-y, so for that reason alone I wouldn’t buy this.
Maskeraide Detox Diva: This was from my Topbox from last month. I really enjoyed using this mask, sheet masks are always so fun to use. The scent was really yummy and reminded me of lychees. My face felt really refreshed and moisturized afterwards, and looked more glowy. I don’t know if I would buy this though, $5 for a mask is kind of steep.
Makeup Academy Felt Eyeliner: Ok, this was absolutely terrible. I used it once, and decided it needed to be trashed. I would absolutely not recommend anyone purchase this, it is so terrible. It is incredibly unpigmented, it came out looking super watery and just gross. Oh well, it was only $1.
Revlon Brow Fantasy: I think the size of what’s left of this is testament to how much I loved this brow pencil. I used it up to the point where when I went to go sharpen it there was no product left! The brow mascara side dried up and was thrown out long ago, but I had to save the pencil to keep using it because the texture and colour is just perfect. I’ll definitely be buying another one once the pencil I’m using now is used up.
Guerlain Lingerie de Peau: I really liked this foundation! It applied super light and felt like you weren’t wearing anything, but still had good coverage. It feels so silky and it had a really light perfume that made it feel super luxe. The fact that it has SPF is a huge plus too. I would recommend this.
Miracle Skin Transformer: I really liked the texture of this. I’d say it was really similar to L’Oreal’s BB cream. It’s got sort of a whipped airy texture that feels super smooth on your face. The coverage was pretty good, and the fact that it has SPF is great. I would consider buying this in the future.
Benefit Fine One One: I really wanted to like this! But alas, I wasn’t a big fan. Maybe it’s because my cheeks are already look flushed all the time to begin with, but I found that this blended out to nothingness. I tried it on my lips too and it looked terrible, it settles into lines and was super drying. Fail.
Cake Desserted Island Velveteen Hand Cream: I loved this. The scent was sooo yummy, I would put it on all the time just to smell it. It made my hands super soft and moisturized. I will definitely repurchase in the future.
Aveda Caribbean Therapy Body Creme: In contrast, this smelled terrible. I have to say it was incredibly moisturizing and made my skin feel so soft, but the scent was really horrible. Would not recommend unless you want to smell like a hippy!
Honeycat Cosmetics Rub My Tummy Hand and Body Cream: I liked this quite a bit, it made my skin super soft. It soaked in pretty quickly and the smell was so yummy – it smells just like almond dessert tofu. Well, actually it just smells like almond, but that’s what I associate the smell with.
The Body Shop Moringa Body Butter: I always love The Body Shop’s body butters. This is probably my favourite scent that they carry though. It’s so fragrant, I love it. I will definitely be repurchasing (once I get through my million other body butters).
Crabtree and Evelyn Tarocco Orange Hand Therapy: Crabtree and Evelyn’s hand therapy hand creams are always great in my books. Their rose scented collection has to be my favourite. This scent I wasn’t a huge fan of – it smelled overwhelmingly of eucalyptus and sage, and smelled more like herbal cleaning supplies than a hand cream. Not pictured because I forgot and threw out the packet, but I also got the Himalayan Blue Hand Therapy sample and that smelled sooo heavenly. I’ll probably pick up something in that scent sometime for myself.
Julep The Best Pedi Creme Ever: I have a full sized tube of this, but I hate having little foil samples of things piling up so I used some up. I’d recommend this foot cream, it’s really moisturizing and it really does make a difference for dry chapped heels and feet.
Julep Rock Star Hand Cream: Again, I’ve got the full size but I wanted to use up the sample. I find this has a really nice light texture, and the scent is nice although it’s nothing special, just your typical florally scent. It absorbs quickly though and leaves hands feeling soft, so I have to say I do like it.
Julep Anti-Aging Hand Brightener: I actually really like this product. My hands aren’t wrinkly by any means (I swear I have the chubbiest hands in the world) but I love the light texture and scent of this. If I ever see a really good deal on this I would probably pick up a full size.
Julep Glycolic Hand Scrub: I liked this quite a bit. This sample was my first time trying it. It left my hands really soft and smooth, especially if I followed up with the Anti-Aging Hand Brightener. If I saw a good deal on this I would probably pick this up too.
Honeycat Cosmetics Shower Gel: I really wasn’t a fan of this. The scent smelled so weird, almost like coffee or chocolate. It didn’t lather very well either. I really had to force myself to use this up. I wouldn’t recommend this at all.
Philosophy Happy Birthday Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath: I looved this scent of this on the other hand, it smells just like birthday cake! I used it as a shower gel and loved using it each time. I wish it never ended.
TRESemme Split Remedy Shampoo & Conditioner: I swear this actually worked, even after using only 3 packets of it (one isn’t pictured because I forgot and threw it out). My hair felt smoother afterwards and I think (maybe it’s just my imagination) that I had less split ends afterwards! I will be buying this the next time I run out of shampoo and conditioner.
Bumble and Bumble Thickening Shampoo & Conditioner: I really enjoyed using this sample. I loved the scent, and it left my hair feelings super clean and light. I had a ton of volume afterwards and my hair felt so light and airy. It’s so pricy though, wah. Maybe one day I’ll splurge on this. If you’ve got the money, I’d definitely recommend this.
….whew! Ok, that’s everything I used up in the last two months! Hope you enjoyed reading my thoughts on everything. Let me know if you’ve tried anything I used up and what your thoughts were on it! :)
